there are, admittedly, things that I’m not a fan of or things that are just plain difficult when it comes to raising them, and I wouldn’t be keeping this whole blogging thing real if I didn’t share those things with you too. So for this week’s Listable Life I give you…
5 Things I Don’t Like About Being a Mom
Potty Training. Tantrums…basically those big “milestones” between ages two to three
We’re in the throws of all of this right now and let’s just say….it isn’t pretty. Our first attempt at potty training ended with a lot of tinkling on the floor. Whatevs….
The tantrums are more the issue….my girls like to throw themselves down on the floor….bang their heads even…I don’t get it. I’ll give you the darn goldfish crackers…for goodness sakes!
Explaining the “Tough Stuff”
I can handle the birds and the bees and “becoming a woman” (did I mention I have three daughters?) But, it’s extremely difficult to explain my “special” (yes, I over-use quotes…and ellipses…) family. They are complicated, hopeless, and…unfortunately a few are toxic. Explaining that to kids….kind of blows. And currently, I’m avoiding it – as I should at this age, but one day, it’s going to have to be discussed and I’m not looking forward to that day.
Dude. Babysitters are expensive and I don’t have family close by, so movie dates and Girls Night Out are entirely too expensive. I’m not a fan. Just sayin’
I wasn’t raised by my mother, so my biggest fear is not being able to raise my girls. I am not fan of the unknown in that respect. I can only hope that it’s part of my life plan that I get to raise them. Ideally…I’d like to be Sofia and Dorothy (except with three Dorothy’s?) from Golden Girls… you know, growing old together. That’s my dream.
My other fear, is not knowing how those teen years are going to go. I dread those emotionally charged years where they may hate me. I really hope we all come out unscathed. Pray for me. One of the three is bound to go rogue on me.
Being Responsible and Stuff
The laundry, endless paperwork, little bits and pieces of toys to clean up and diapers – I could totally do without that part of motherhood. Right now, I have a HUGE pile of clean clothes waiting for me to fold and put away and an equally large pile waiting for me to wash. When you have more than one child, especially multiple toddlers at once, that laundry piles seem to grow exponentially. I need a budget that includes a full-time maid, and personal assistant. Just sayin’
What part of motherhood could you do without?
Listable Life is a weekly meme shared by myself and Sharon over at Mom of 6 . Each week we all write lists posts – you can choose one of two prompts or write up a list post of your choice and then link it up! We then hop around, read and comment on one another’s blogs in an effort to find new faces and places to read in the blogosphere.
Next week’s topics are:
