While I was at Blissdom last weekend, there were many inspiring things shared in the process of the many sessions. However, there was one particular quote that stuck out….
When Jon Acuff said these words:
“Creativity is a wild mind with a disciplined eye”
I thought…. that’s so me! Or…that should be me.
This statement resonated deeply, because, I have so many ideas running around in my head, so many things I want to do creatively, but they are rarely seen to fruition simply because I’m not being as disciplined as I should be to ensure they are completed or properly developed.
Now, I have to give some of that credit to the nature of my life right now with three young children, life as a military spouse , which includes deployments, and more recently, a new job – life is busy!
I realized though, that with a little more focus and prioritizing of time, I can start to accomplish my goals – the small, as well as the large – little by little.
And, I have to choose to celebrate those small victories as they come.
So, a new goal that came from my time at Blissdom this year is to focus on small changes. I know that it will be the small changes that will yield a more organized life and in turn result in more productivity for my creative goals. I want to use my time wisely while also understanding I can’t get it all done in one day. This is particularly important because I also need to prioritize time with my family. I haven’t quite figured out all of the ins and outs of my approach, but this quote is my reminder that discipline and focus is the way to make it all happen.
How do you organize your time so you can accomplish your creative goals? I’m in the market for tested strategies that work!
