I went to Florida a couple of weekends ago to visit one of my girlfriends who just had a baby. This particular friend is one of my dearest and closest friends so I knew I wanted to find a way to be with her, even for a short time at the beginning of her journey as a Mom.
My goal was to be supportive, get some baby cuddles and have fun with one of my closest gals.
But I digress…
We chose this particular weekend because my friend has an annual gala event that she enjoys attending and we thought it would be fun to dress up and get out for the evening.
AND her stellar husband was on board for some lengthy Dad-duty…SCORE!
My friend loves to go glam for this event. This year she had to tweak her plan a bit because little man wasn’t a fan of Mama being gone all day for hair, nails and makeup. So we did our own hair and nails and hit up the MAC counter for the make-up. I was all set for the smokey eye, some rosy blushed up cheeks and gloss…but then she put on the good ol’ fashion peer pressure.
“You just HAVE to get fake lashes!”
She says to me.
“I don’t know, I think I’m good” I say.
“Oh come on, I do it every year, they’re great!” she says earnestly.
“Oh yeah, they are fabulous!” Adds in the MAC product pushing sales person.
“Ok…but I don’t want to look too fake” I say.
And then, I let her glue some lashes to my lids….
I’m glad I caved. They were fun.
Add a hot dress in the mix…
And I was feeling pretty glamorous….if I do say-so myself.
And um…the Mama I went with….
You’d never know she was lacking sleep. Or that she just gave birth to the sweetest little boy on the planet.
Quality girl time….check!
And as for the supportive goal….I may just be the baby whisperer…
While Mommy and Daddy were in Baptism class, I worked my magic on the boy.
**dusts off shoulder**
All-in-all it made for a great weekend.
Going glam is a fun change up from the usual yoga pants
cuddling newborns just brightens a person’s day…No?
Do you have an event you look forward to every year? What’s your best memory of going glam?
